WHO IS CPNA?

The CPNA represents the interests of residents of the Columbia Park Neighborhood located in Northeast Minneapolis. Columbia Park is rich with natural beauty and dynamic parks. The boundaries are 37th Avenue on the North, 27th Avenue on the South, Central Avenue on the East and Main Street on the West.

Columbia Park proudly hosts up and coming businesses like Lucky Shots Pickleball Club and Brother Justice Whiskey Distillery. Columbia Park is also home to two outstanding parks, Hi-View and Columbia Park. Our neighborhood boasts a leash-free dog park, miles of walking and biking paths, a golf course, wading pool, three playgrounds, and acres of picnic and green space available for community use.

 

The mission of CPNA is to build community, promote community service within Columbia Park, and organize to improve and unite our neighborhood. CPNA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is primarily funded by a City of Minneapolis neighborhood organization funding program. CPNA has recently relaunched in 2025, and is a dynamic organization in the process of growing and building an equitable, sustainable, and inclusive organization committed to benefiting all residents of Columbia Park. We are looking for someone to help us manage the administrative needs as we build and expand the CPNA.

 

ABOUT THE ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR POSITION


CPNA is looking for an organized and driven community leader to support the organization in administrative matters and growing in internal and external capacity. This is a part-time hourly position. The position is contact and lasts until December 31, 2025. Ideally the contract administrative coordinator will work 10-15 hours a week. This is a contract position.

 

The Administrative Coordinator reports to the CPNA Executive Committee, supervised by the CPNA Board President, is accountable to the CPNA Board of Directors, and can engage and respond to the needs and concerns of Columbia Park residents. The Coordinator will work closely with the CPNA Board or Directors to complete organizational administration tasks and community engagement in order to support our growing organization.


Key Responsibilities will vary every given week and may include any combination of the following:
● Guide and manage the volunteer board in accordance with established bylaws and programmatic/funding requirements
● Coordinate CPNA’s monthly open board meetings (2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm) and provide administrative support during the meeting, including promoting meetings to neighbors, setting the agenda, coordinating guests, note taking, coordinating virtual access to meeting, and follow ups.
● Support the Board of Directors in managing key aspects of the organization, such as governance, organizational development, program and event development and evaluation, finances, fundraising, securing vendors and contract support, internal and external communications.
● Assist the board president and treasurer with overseeing finances, paying regular monthly bills, and obtaining reimbursement with city funders
● Facilitate community communications and promotion of events, such as managing email promotions, flyering, social media posts, and mailings
● Assist with logistics and planning for 2026 CPNA events, such as Lucky Shots pickleball, earth day, and other events set by the Board of Directors
● Assist in any 2025 event planning
● Create CPNA’s first quarterly newsletter to send to neighbors at the end of 2025, and create a lasting template for 2026 quarterly template
● Start a draft of the CPNA handbook with relevant information on the organizational logistics
● Update and maintain CPNA’s website
● Develop relationships with key governmental and organizational stakeholders (MNDOT, Parks Board, MetroTransit), including compiling a database of contacts for the CPNA Board
● Assist in compiling, processing and understanding data from CPNA’s 2025 equitable engagement survey
● Assist in preparing CPNA’s application for 2026 funding
● Create an external communications protocol for promoting community and other events
● Support CPNA committees
● Set up systems and protocols to support the smooth and efficient operation of CPNA
● Volunteer recruitment, training, and, management
● Manage social media platforms

● Assist in other tasks as needed


COMPENSATION


CPNA will compensate $30 an hour for 10-15 hours a week. Please note that this is a contract position lasting until December 31, 2025.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


Must have skills:
● Nonprofit administration experience or experience/training in the primary areas of responsibility
● Experience with social media platforms (instagram, facebook), QuickBooks or other financial software, and Canva
● People skills, that includes the ability to manage people, effectively address resident concerns, productively handle conflict, and attract neighbors to get more involved with CPNA
● Ability to build relationships and coalitions with individuals and organizations (funders, partner organizations, governmental entities, and community groups)
● Comfortable working collaboratively with others in achieving shared goals
● Reliable and able to work independently, as well as manage volunteers
● Must be comfortable working with diverse communities
● Comfortable planning events
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Highly organized


Nice to have skills:
● Proficient in spoken and written Spanish or another language relevant to the Columbia Park neighborhood (Somali, Arabic, French)
● Community organizing experience
● Event planning experience
● Previous experience supporting neighborhoods associations or working for the City of Minneapolis in another capacity
● Ability to quickly jump in to provide immediate support to the CPNA Board of Directors

Support provided:
The Administrative Coordinator will work closely with the Board President and Vice President to receive and check-in on assignments on a weekly basis. The Board of Directors will work to train and provide support on an as-needed basis throughout the duration of the contract position.
